Dear Friends —
What a week! Did you see me on Fox News this week, talking about the Pope’s album, Instant Korma, and Ringolevio? Then on Sunday, I opened the New York Times to discover I was favorably mentioned in an article on Donald Trump and the Rise of the Moral Minority! And I finally saw Susan Isaacs’ brilliant and hilarious one-woman show, Angry Conversation with God!
I also had the pleasure of welcoming some grand prize winners of our 7 Women – Amazing Grace the Musical Contest to the studio!
This week’s radio highlights speak for themselves. We had a couple of doozies! Thanks for listening!
This week on The Eric Metaxas Show:
Monday Eric talked more about Ahmed the 14-year-old Clock Maker with “Scott”, whose full name could not be revealed because he works as a senior Homeland Security expert for the Federal govt. Also, Emad Salem, a key informant on the 1993 World Trade Center attacks (who infiltrated terrorist cells and lived to tell the tale!) gave stunning insights from a Muslim American pov.
In the second hour, The Stream‘s John Zmirak joined Eric to discuss the Pope’s visit and shared sobering views on the current state of the Catholic church.
On Tuesday, Eric held welcomed Caltech scientist Hugh Ross for a mind-bending conversation about his book A Matter of Days: Resolving a Creation Controversy, exploring the biblical foundations for young and old earth creation theories. Many wrote to say this was one of the most fascinating conversations they had ever heard, so Eric will have more with him this coming week.
Eric then welcomed national radio host Bill Bennett and his co-author, T.E. Cribb, to talk about their latest book America the Strong: Conservative Ideas to Spark the Next Generation.
Wednesday began with King’s College journalism professor Terry Mattingly, talking about Kim Davis’s secret meeting with the Pope. Then Eric took listener calls, fielding questions on subjects from parenting to politics!
In hour two, Abigail Santamaria author of Joy: Poet, Seeker, and the Woman Who Captivated C. S. Lewis talked more about her book, and about her recent experiences with actress Debra Winger, who played Joy (alongside Anthony Hopkins’ C.S. Lewis) in the 1994 Hollywood movie Shadowlands.
On Thursday Eric talked with Rabbi Rechiel Ecksteinn (the subject of Zev Chafets’s book The Bridge Builder) about the troubling rise of anti-Semitism around the world, and Jewish-Christian relations in general.
In hour two, Eric spoke with Terri Roberts, about her stunning experiences as the mother of the man who killed five Amish schoolgirls ten years ago, and about receiving forgiveness from the parents of the victims. The discussion was particularly poignant in light of the shootings at Umpqua Community College in Oregon.
Eric closed the week welcoming back Homeland Security expert Scott to talk about the tragic shootings. And he also spoke with Johnnie Moore, President of the KAIROS Company, about the state of Christians in the Middle East, and Moore’s book Defying ISIS: Preserving Christianity in the Place of Its Birth and in Your Own Backyard.
