Hello Friends — This week I had the privilege to be invited to the NYC premiere of My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2
! Just so you understand, for a Greek
, this was like visiting the tomb of Pericles. Also, I interviewed Elena Kampouris on my
radio show. She plays Nia Vardalos’s 17-year-old daughter in the film, and happens to be the granddaughter of two of my
dearest friends! Our Greek Hour
is a must listen for anyone with a trace of Greek
blood, so please let your Greek
friends know about it!
The film was sponsored by Windex (no joke) and I got to meet Michael Constantine (whom I remember from Room 222!) and Lainie Kazan. But the craziest selfie of all is the one I got with Bo Derek, who plays the ancient hag of a great-grandmother in the film and who is up for an Oscar, as is her make-up man. In person she looks lovely, as you can see. Some of these details might be made up; you be the judge.
I spoke at a Veritas Forum at the University of Cincinnati
host, David Palmer (whose wife just happens to be Greek
), gave me an amazing tour of the city, culminating in a visit to the Jewish Archives, where I held a 4,000-year-old cuneiform tablet in my
hand (it was from Ur of the Chaldees!) and then I had the extraordinary privilege of seeing the actual telegram sent from Europe to the U.S. in which the news of the Holocaust was first broken, although the U.S. government did not give the telegram to the intended recipient, preferring to stay quiet about it. Seeing that document was hard to take in. I also got to look through a 1,000-year-old Torah, with magnificent illustrations.
But I hope you’re still reading because from today through Easter Sunday, the Eric Metaxas Show is holding an amazing giveaway that you do NOT want to miss! We are partnering with Food For The Poor to provide food and clean water to children in the Caribbean and Latin America, and anyone who gives $75 or more via the radio show website (MetaxasTalk.com
) by March 27th
will get an Eric Metaxas show mug AND will be entered into a drawing for additional prizes! My
producer tells me that you can enter the drawing for free, if you can get five friends (or enemies) to sign up to receive these emails
! The prizes include coveted VIP/Dinner tickets to our nearly-sold-out Socrates in the City event on May 3
, as well as books, Eric Metaxas Show t-shirts, and more! Please consider supporting this valuable cause! One gift does so much to change the lives of children in need. Please?
